Card-ii-Omics

Card-ii-Omics: Cardiovascular implant development, infections and proteomics: preventing, diagnosing and treating implant infections

Project term: 2017 - 2021

Junior research group leader at IBMT: Dr. rer. nat. Sabine Illner

Card-ii-Omics is an interdisciplinary network of scientists whose objective is to prevent cardiovascular implant infection through biofunctionalization and to improve the diagnosis and treatment of what can be a life-threatening complication.

Building on excellent preliminary work in the areas of implant development and infection biology and using the latest Omics-technologies, we aim to develop infection-resistant implants and to improve the diagnosis and treatment of implant infection.

Card-ii-Omics brings together the strength of different scientific institutions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and serves in particular as a springboard for young researchers in medicine, science and technology. The team's efforts focus on an individually and socially significant health problem in order to create added value for the research landscape in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The Card-ii-Omics research network is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with 6 million euro as part of the Excellence in Research program of the state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
